Adam Bogdanove, Professor of Plant Pathology at Cornell University, was the first participant to take part in the Fulbright Specialist trilateral program with Africa. This new program sponsored by the US Department of State has the aim of fostering collaboration and linkages among American, French, and African institutions of higher education and research. Dr. Bogdanove was invited by colleagues at IRD Montpellier to work together on creating a training and research network for resistant rice in Africa. In addition to three weeks in Montpellier, Dr. Bogdanove traveled to Burkina Faso, Senegal, and Côte d'Ivoire to conduct workshops and meet with colleagues in local research centers and universities, laying the groundwork for long-term partnerships and exchange.
