Two Fulbright alumnae win the Google Impact Challenge in Paris

19/11/2019 - Alumni: events, publications and thesis defence

Congratulations to Jean Guo, Binta Jammeh, and the Konexio team for winning the first prize of the Google impact challenge on November 19, 2019 in Paris. The 600,000€ prize will allow the fast developing social start-up to equip more vulnerable people with digital skills, a way to facilitate their integration because of the pressing need for such skills in today's economy. Konexio's objective is to train 3000 persons by 2021 in Paris, Nantes and Bordeaux, 10 000 in the next five years in France. No doubt the prize will help them achieve this ambitious goal.

The Franco-American Fulbright Commission is particularly proud to count both Jean and Binta among its alumni. As a Fulbright student, Jean did research at the Paris School of Economics in 2016 on access to health services. Binta received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant fellowship at Lycée Jean Zay in Aulnay sous bois the same year. They actually met through the Fulbright program. Since then, they have created and developed Konexio and have plans for its national and international expansion.

The Commission also wants to recognize the role of the France Fulbright Alumni association in developing an important mentoring program for the Konexio students. We wish them all a great success with their enterprise.
