Four Fulbrighters awarded the Légion d'Honneur

The promotion civile de la Légion d’honneur of January 1, 2022 includes 547 persons, of whom four are former grantees of the Franco-américan commission:

  • Arnaud Fontanet (Fulbright advanced student in medecine, Harvard Medical School, 1990) Member of the Conseil Scientifique COVID-19 which has advised the French government on the pandemic.
  • Yazdan Yazdanpanah (Fulbright advanced student in médecine, Harvard Medical School, 1998) Member of the Conseil Scientifique COVID-19 which has advised the French government on the pandemic.
  • Marie-Monique Steckel, née Pflaum (Fulbright advanced student in political science, Yale University 1960): Former director of the French Institute-Alliance Française in New York.
  • Pap Ndiaye (Fulbright scholar in history, Columbia University, 2003): Director of the Musée national de l'histoire de l'immigration. 

The Légion d'honneur is the highest distinction awarded by the French government.  It honors the merits of those who have served the French nation in a significant way.
