These programs provide American students and professionals of E.U.-U.S. relations, EU institutions, and EU policy, with a grant of 3 to 9 months. 

The Fulbright-Schuman Program is cofunded by the US Department of State and the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission, and is administered by the Fulbright Commission in Belgium.

Inter-country Lecturing Program

For American Fulbright grantees studying in Europe (outside of France), wishing to lecture in another European country, and for French institutions, wishing to invite an American Fulbright grantee studying in another European country.

As European institutions host nearly 250 American Fulbright grantees each year, one can apply to the Fulbright Commission in its home country to host an American grantee from another country, during 2 days.

  • If you represent a European institution outside of France and you wish to host an American Fulbright scholar in France, please contact your local Commission office.
  • If you represent a French institution and you wish to invite an American Fulbright scholar from another country, please email or write to Charlotte Goodwin

24 European Fulbright commissions participate in the Inter-country Lecturing Program:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and the UK.

Fulbright Global Scholar Award

The Fulbright Global Scholar Award provides U.S. academics and professionals with the flexibility to engage in advanced trans-regional research activity or combined teaching/research activity. As a truly worldwide award, U.S. scholars will be able to collaborate and engage in scholarly activities in two or three countries representing two or three world regions. Grants may consist of one multi-country trip, two or three single country trips or two dual-country trips. 

Candidates receive the grant for three to six months with a minimum of one month spent in each host country each visit. Grants may be conducted within one academic year or spread over two consecutive years.
