This conference is part of the Care Studies that explores economic, political, social and ethical issues related to care, dependence and autonomy. Premilla Nadasen's presentation focuses on the evolution of the discourse and politics of care among domestic workers, particularly African American, since the end of the Second World War in the United States.
Premilla Nadasen recently published a study about black American domestic women's struggles for their labor rights entitled Household Workers Unite: The Untold Story of African American Women Who Built a Movement (Beacon Press, 2015).
The presentation will be followed by a talk with two discussants, Donna Kesselman (Paris-Est Créteil University - IMAGER) and Hélène Le Dantec-Lowry (Sorbonne Nouvelle University - CREW) and a plenary discussion.
