Spring 2020 Fulbright-Tocqueville Distinguished Chair Satish Bukkapatnam will give his inaugural lecture at his host institution, Arts et Métiers ParisTech (Aix campus). Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Title: "Artificial Intelligence (AI) for smart manufacturing and industry 4.0"
Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI), sensors and imaging systems are fueling an industrial revolution. The talk will discuss the exciting opportunity emerging from this revolution for rethinking the way we make and assure the quality of the products. With the increasing availability of large streams of data in the industry, it is now possible to predict impending faults across a factory floor much earlier, and over considerably longer time horizons than what was possible heretofore. The talk will also outline advanced computational approaches that are becoming attractive for the prognosis of performance due to the increasing global competition and the availability of large data streams.
