
The board of directors of the French-American Fulbright Commission is pleased to announce that Martine Roussel has been named Executive Director, effective March 1, 2022. She is the first woman to occupy the position.
Mrs. Roussel has significant experience in the administration of international university partnerships, especially between France and the United States. Before joining the Commission, she was the director of the section on university and scientific partnerships for North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. She was responsible for French diplomatic networks with American universities. In this role, she often represented the Ministry at the Fulbright commission and sat on several grantee selection juries. Previously, she was the head of the department for supporting French universities at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. She led a team to promote the participation of French universities in a European Union research scheme.
She holds a degree from Sciences Po-Rennes with a specialization in public affairs and spent an Erasmus year at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. Later she specialized in European affairs at Sciences Po-Strasbourg. She also holds a Masters degree in European studies from the College of Europe in Bruges.
